At Lato, we have industrial safety and health of our people as our top priority. We are committed to offering our customers and consumers products made with high industry standards for safety, nutritional value, and quality.

We believe in a culture of continuous improvement where we review our procedures regularly to ensure they meet or exceed industry best practices. Our facilities are certified by international industry standards and are audited internally and by third-parties several times a year.

Our Quality Standards

Our commitment to international quality standards for Food Safety is based on Codex Standards for Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) to ensure safe and quality products for consumers. We have been certified with world-famous ISO standards ISO 22000: 2018 certification, ISO 9001:2015, HACCP for Quality Management, NEMA certification, Uganda National Bureau of Standards and Uganda Halal Bureau.
We also have our own standards for product quality to make sure we are getting healthy, fresh and good tasting products for all our customers.

Quality and Food Safety Policy

Pearl Dairy Farms Limited (PDFL) processes and provides milk and milk products of uncompromising quality and demonstrates “due diligence” during production and distribution of safe and quality milk and milk products. We are committed to;

  • Fully satisfying our customers and other interested parties by meeting their needs and expectations.
  • Complying with all applicable National and International Legislations and Regulations about Quality and Food Safety as well as mutually agreed customer requirements.
  • Communicating all-important information related to Quality and Food Safety requirements to all our interested parties inside and outside our organisation.
  • Maintaining a Quality and Food Safety Management System according to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 22000:2018 covering production processes, storage and distribution of dairy products.
  • Ensuring continual improvement of Integrated Management System and compliance with all relevant standards through setting up and reviewing annual Food Safety and Quality Objectives.
  • Employing and retaining competent staff related to Quality and Food Safety.
  • Preventing pollution to the environment, minimizing generation of waste and disposing it in a responsible manner to reduce the risk of product contamination.
  • Committed to provide quality and safe products while enhancing environmental awareness, personal and product safety among employees through training and development.
  • Ensuring effective management of corrective and preventive actions for non-conformances.
  • Communicating our Quality and Food Safety Policy to all our interested parties through displays, emails, and publish on our company web site www.pearldairy.com and shall be reviewed annually.
