Uganda produces about 1.5 billion litres of milk per year with only 10% processed. Over 80% is consumed in raw form which gives a greater opportunity for the new investors. Milk producers in Uganda are likely to be benefited from the Uganda’s biggest investor, the Midland Group as the company has come up with a $15 million milk processing plant. The project will employ 250 people directly and create over 10,000 jobs indirectly. The plant will have a capacity of processing 500,000 litres of milk per day. The plant will produce various milk products like skimmed milk powder, butter oil, liquid powder, cream, ghee and cheese.
